During a brief visit to the Sirmaur district, Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu inaugurated and laid the foundation stones for 17 key development projects totaling Rs 190 crore in Nahan. This initiative marks a significant investment aimed at enhancing infrastructure and services in the region, as stated by the Chief Minister’s Office.
Foundation Stones for Major Initiatives
Of the total projects, foundation stones worth Rs 152 crore were laid. Among these, notable projects include the implementation of Smart Grid Technologies in both Nahan and Poanta Sahib towns, with allotted budgets of Rs 53.40 crore and Rs 43.66 crore respectively.
Additional projects comprise a Rs 16.04 crore road connecting Bheron to Adi Badri, and a Rs 12.36 crore road from Kanshiwala to Biroja Factory through Jabbal Ka Bag. Furthermore, the inauguration also includes the establishment of a Chief Medical Office in Nahan for Rs 8.42 crore.
Investment in Educational Infrastructure
In the field of education, expansions at the Government Polytechnic at Dhaula Kuan were highlighted. These include a new boys’ hostel costing Rs 3.17 crore, an academic block with a second floor worth Rs 4.91 crore, and a residential accommodation block for Rs 7.81 crore. The total investment also features an automobile block for Rs 2.41 crore, a girls’ hostel at Rs 3.30 crore, and a link road connecting Judda-Ka-Johar to village Gadda at Rs 2.57 crore.
Establishment of Community Services
Additionally, projects include a fire post building in Kala Amb at Rs 3.80 crore and the District Panchayat Resource Centre in Nahan, which amounts to Rs 5.65 crore. The cumulative effect of these projects aims to improve public services and enhance community welfare in the district.
Recognition on International Women’s Day
On the same day, Chief Minister Sukhu acknowledged the efforts of several women during an event in Nahan to celebrate International Women’s Day. He awarded Priyanka Verma, Deputy Commissioner of Sirmaur, for her dedication to women’s empowerment, and recognized Kritika Sharma for her successful Mount Everest climb, along with Megha Singh Kanwar, who excelled in the Himachal Pradesh Administrative Examination-2025.
Support for Women Entrepreneurs
Under the Himachal Pradesh Mahila Vikas Protsahan Yojana, Sukhu presented awards to individuals including Shanti Jaiswal and Nirmala Dhiman for their entrepreneurship achievements. Each recipient received Rs one lakh as a token of appreciation for their contributions to women empowerment within their respective communities.
Financial Aid Distributed
During the event, various welfare schemes also saw the distribution of financial aid. The Mukhyamantri Sukh Aashray Yojana provided marriage assistance of Rs 60,000 each to beneficiaries including Shikha and Simran Kaur. Additionally, recipients Mehboob Hasan and Ravi received their second instalment of Rs one lakh for home construction under the same initiative.
